Founded by Leah Smith, Steady Ground Independent Housing LLC is a Toledo-based housing company created to help veterans and older adults move toward greater housing stability.
Our planned residences will offer shared living environments where residents maintain responsibility for their own personal care, medications, meals, housekeeping, and daily activities.
Steady Ground is not an assisted-living facility, nursing facility, treatment program, or personal-care provider.

Is housing available now?
Not yet. Steady Ground is in its pre-launch development stage and does not currently have an approved property or available beds.
Is this assisted living or a care facility?
No. Steady Ground provides independent housing only. We do not provide nursing, medication management, medical treatment, therapy, continuous supervision, or hands-on personal care.
Who is the housing being developed for?
Our initial focus is independently living veterans and older adults who need stable, respectful housing in the Toledo and Lucas County area.
Will vouchers or rental assistance be accepted?
Program participation has not yet been confirmed. Acceptance will depend on the future property, rental arrangement, inspection requirements, and each program's rules.
